Rajasthan Tours in India
Rajasthan has the honour of being the largest state in India. The home of the valiant Rajputs known for their bravery and chivalry, Rajasthan is believed to be a state where human settlement dates back to the early historical period. A region marked by lofty rocks, rolling sand dunes, burning heat and freezing cold, wide stretches of sand and fertile plains. The Aravalli range, which is the oldest folded range in the world, divides the area into two natural divisions-North-West and South-East Rajasthan.
A deep influence of Jainism and Buddhism can be observed in this region. It also witnessed the rule of the Magadha, Kushanas and the Guptas, during which it was divided into Mahajanapadas and Janapadas. Rajasthan formed a part of the Mauryan Empire in about 130-150AD and the Guptas ruled it in the 4th century. From about 640AD the Gujars, Pratiharas, Chauhans, Gahlots etc established their independent Kingdoms. Internal rivalry between the Rajput Kingdoms led to the establishment of many strong Rajput reigns which resisted the domination of the Mughals. The Mughal rule declined by about 1707AD and gave way to the Marathas. The British who disintegrated many of its areas subdued the Marathas. After Independence, the linguistic classification of the states gave Rajasthan an independent statehood in 1956.
The tourism potential of the state has made the region the most frequently visited state after Goa and Kerala.
